Jaguar S Type

The Jaguar S-Type is an upmarket luxury saloon car which was first introduced to the world at the renowned British Motor Show, and then made available to purchase a year later in nineteen ninety nine. This modern day car, commonly known as the S Type, is in fact the second Jaguar S Type.

In nineteen sixty three the first S-Type was built, and was available with three point four and three point eight litre engines. The classic model was really a more defined and elegant version of the Mark 2 Jaguar, although the styling of the modern day S Type does appear to have a Mark 2 origin whilst also being modern, elegant and having the appearance of an executive car.

The car is assembled in the Jaguar plant located in Castle Bromwich, a suburb within the West Midlands and in the City of Birmingham. The elegant styling of the car was designed by the British designer Geoff Lawson, an award winning talented man who served at Jaguar from nineteen eighty nine to his death in June nineteen ninety nine. The Ford DEW platform was used, which was created by Ford and Jaguar engineers and was first used for the Lincoln sedan.

Four years after the car was made available for the sale the new R variation was produced. The S Type R was a more powerful variation of the car and was aiming to compete with the powerful Mercedes and BMW models. The car was fitted with a V8 engine and was capable of producing four hundred break horse power. The R was also slightly aesthetically different, with a sportier appearance. The retail price was greater than the normal model, as expected, and cost just over fifty thousand British pounds.
